Dental Braces

I have always envied people with straight teeth.. They can smile all they like flashing their perfectly aligned teeth without having to hide anything..
Sadly mine isn't... So I decided to something about it..
Yes... You got that right.. I went to make braces..
I have been wanting to do this for years and finally I got my opportunity..

In India, the cost of making braces is way cheaper compared to back home.. Imagine paying only about RM 500 ( Staff price ) to get it done!!!- of course there are other options like the cheaper one( 3 times cheaper with PG but the quality is not guaranteed.. no way i'm risking my tooth for that... ) and also the more expensive ones ( still cheaper than what we pay in msia but I cannot tahan to wait and also... bo lui!! )

Initially I was assigned to Dr. Arun but before I even started my treatment he was transferred to Sikim ( WT Heck!! )... Anyway, another dentist was assigned to handle my case.. She's Dr Seema Gupta.. She's looks like she's in her mid 30s.. A pleasant looking and friendly person.. I hope she does it right ( fingers crossed)..

Long story cut short..
I had two options for my treatment:
1. Extract 4 tooth and push my lower jaw backwards..
2. No extraction.. Just push my upper jaw forwards..

I decided to for the first one because the second one just dint seem right..
No REGRETS!!

Stage 1 :
Extractions of left upper and lower premolar tooth and
Fixing separaters on!!!







Everything went on quite smoothly.. The separaters were ok at first... But after a few days it started to cause some pain.. Couldn't even chew my food.. Had to survive on porridge for a week.. yuck!!


Stage 2 :
Extraction of right upper and lower premolar tooth




This was probably the worst extraction experience I have ever had..

My Tooth Extraction Drama :
Scene- I was lying down waiting for the extraction

Doctor 1 : Today I'm gonna try something new..
Me : ............... (@#$%??)
Doctor 1 : Don't worry.. I'm only gonna use a stronger injection.. A few people have tried this before..
Me : ok.... ( Here goes nothing.. )
Doctor 1 : Normally i will inject both the buccal and palate areas but with this I will only inject once- the buccal area.. the effect will spread to the palate
Me : ok... ( will you get on with it?)
Doctor 1 : okay... Pls open your mouth..
The extraction of the upper premolar tooth went on smoothly ( thank goodness ).. Dint feel anything..
Then she proceeded to my lower premolar.. I thought it was all over but I was so wrong..
When she tried to extract it, I felt so much pain..
Me : Arghh... pppengfool ( painful )
Doctor 1 : Hmmm.. That's not right.. Do you really feel pain??
Me : Yeshh!! ( @#$%!!)
So she injected once more using the so-called powerful injection.. And she attempted to extract my tooth for the second time.. And I felt the excruciating pain again..
Me : Still ppengfoolla doc...
Doctor 1 : (Puzzled ) Impossible.. ok i will use the normal injection then..
Me : ......
It went on for about 30 minutes and by that time she had injected me like more than 10 times..
Doctor 1 : Still feeling the pain?? Are u sure u are feeling pain or just a little pressure??
Me : Seriouslyla.. Its ppengfool..
Doctor 1 : wait for a while.. Dr XXX!!
Doctor XXX : Did u inject the area with yyyy nerve?
Doctor 1 : yes i did..
Doctor XXX : wat bout the zzzz nerve?
Doctor 1 : did that too... He shouldnt feel any pain..
Doctor XXX : hmmm... ( turned to look at doctor 1 ) going anywhere later?
Me : ..... ( hello??? I am lying here in pain and u are flirting with her??)
Doctor 1 :@@@@@@@@( something in indian which i cant understand)
After a few minutes they turned their attention back to me...
Doctor XXX : okay.. just try to hold still while Doctor 1 pulls out ur teeth..
Doctor 1 : If you feel too much pain just tell me then I will stop
Me : ok..
So she tried for the ( i think ) 8th time
Me : Arrgghh.. pppengfool!!!
Doctor XXX then pinned me down and said it would be over in no time..
Me : Arrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doctor 1 : A little more
Me : AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Doctor XXX : A little more...
Me : Ughhhhhhh!!!!! ( @#$%^&**)
Finally it came out... By that time I was already pespiring all over..
Man it was so so so painful...



Stage 3 : Braces on!!!

The rest of the procedure went on without much fuss.. And now after having em fixed on I could only eat soft food.. That means no fried chicken, french fries, chicken kati roll and the list goes on and on for.... I dunno until when..

But you know what they say... No pain no gain.. I might as well get used to it...

Guess I will have to survive on porridge and bread for the time being.. LOL!!

Kaup Beach

Friday, 06.04.07 ( Happy Birthday Jee Jian!!)..

Thank goodness it was holiday after one crazy week for me..
( PBL presentation coupled with the pain in my mouth as a result of extracting two premolars the week before and the separaters.. Cant even pronounce six properly.. Not forgetting the limited choices of food that I can eat.. Ughh I hate porridge.. Cant go on another week living on only bread and porridge!! )

Enough of me ranting bout my problems.. Went to Kaup Beach yesterday and it was great!! Pronounced as "Ka-Aap" it is about 12 km from Udupi. How do i describe it? Easy.. An unspoilt beach with an imposing light house..

Anyway we went there by bus and the journey took less than 45 minutes..

We got off at somewhere they called Kaup, south of Udupi, on the coastal belt that passes through the West Coast National Highway.. Then from there we took an auto to the beach..
